University Centre of the Westfjords

The University Centre of the Westfjords is a higher education organization located in Ísafjörður, Iceland. It offers two international and multidisciplinary 120 ETCS master‘s programmes: Coastal and Marine Management, MRM and Coastal Communities and Regional Development, MA. The programmes include subjects like: Natural resource management, sustainability, ecology, economics, social sciences, policy and planning for regional/urban communities.

 

  • Courses are both modular and hands-on, taught in English by international lecturers and include company visits and field trips.
  • UW students can tailor their own curriculum and thesis research, utilizing the surrounding research environment.
  • Ísafjörður is the largest town (population 2700) in the stunning Westfjords region. In a peaceful fjord, surrounded by mountains, it provides spectacular conditions for various winter and summer activities so it truly is a magical place to study

Ísafjörður is the largest town (population 2700) in the stunning Westfjords region. The town is located in a peaceful fjord, surrounded by mountains. This provides spectacular conditions for various winter and summer activities like hiking, skiing, mountainbiking and even surfing.

Application

Applications are open until June 5th. The first deadline is February 15th for the best chance of admission. Second deadline is April 15th and June 5th for EU/EEA citizens based on avilability. The annual registration fee for the master programmes is ISK 150,000 for Icelandic and EEA/EU students. For students from countries outside the EEA the registration is ISK 300,000. There is no fee to apply.
