The Master of Environmental Law encompasses the academic disciplines of law, policy, science, and economics. The degree course is as interdisciplinary as up-to-date dealing with current problems such as the global climate change. The legal protection or containment of environmental aspects gains significantly of public interest which is why study programmes in this field emerge at more and more universities around the globe. However, the Master of Environmental Law remains a fairly new degree course.
Apart from energy management and regulation, the Environmental Law programme copes with questions of sustainability, resource management, environmental and food safety, natural conservation and degradation. This selection of core topics indicates the heat of the environmental debate. It touches every sphere of human living: economic production and trade, energy and public service provisions, and human health.
To lay out general entry requirements for a Master of Environmental Law is a tough task. There are two different degree courses in Environmental Law, one for law-degree holders and one for non-law degree holders. The former is a one-year taught Masters. While an academic degree in law is a precondition for this Master of Environmental Law, some universities consider it an advantage if you are proficient in EU and/or international law, too.
The latter is a degree course and additive to an already existing degree and/or professional experience in economics, the energy or public service provision sector. Hence, we advise you to contact your university directly and inquire the specific entry requirements.
