You are probably at your last month of university, or if not - maybe you have already finished this study year? Well, if this is the case we would like to tell you more on how to make the summer count. What else is there to do in summer breaks than chill out on some beautiful Greek beach or work to get some money for a vacation somewhere even more exotic?
Have ever you heard of Erasmus+? We hope that you have. But if you have not – by definition it is the EU's program to support education, training, and sport among the youth. Erasmus+ offers opportunities for youth exchanges, trainings and volunteer programs. Basically, what you could do is join an international project in your summer break (but not only) for a week or two. The topics are usually in the social or civic field and the participation is absolutely for free as it is funded by the program.
If you want to be more involved more you could go to a short term EVS (European Voluntary Service) project that lasts up to 2 months (there are also opportunities for a longer period).
Last but not least, if you have already been on an youth exchange but you want to go deeper in the development of your soft and hard skills in the subject you are doing a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree, it is recommended to do a summer internship. Internships could be much more than bringing coffee and scanning documents. It is about networking and actually putting some of the knowledge from university into practice.
If you want to know more and you are in a search of the most suitable youth exchange, volunteering program or internship for yourself you should visit YOUTHub.
